PTFE coated fiberglass adhesive tape combines a woven fiberglass fabric with a PTFE surface coating and a pressure-sensitive silicone adhesive. The fiberglass carrier provides dimensional stability and wear resistance, while the PTFE surface offers low friction and easy release from many molten plastics and adhesive residues. It is commonly used as a replaceable protective layer on heat-sealing equipment, packaging machinery, rollers, chutes, guides, and other process surfaces exposed to heat and repeated mechanical contact.
| Backing | PTFE-coated woven fiberglass fabric |
| Adhesive | Pressure-sensitive silicone adhesive |
| Typical Total Thickness | 0.13 / 0.18 / 0.25 / 0.35 mm, depending on grade |
| Standard Color | Brown; black anti-static-style grades may be available on request |
| Width | Common slit widths from 10 mm; wide rolls and custom slitting available |
| Length | 10 m / 33 m / 50 m and custom converting options |
| Temperature Guidance | Grades for elevated-temperature processing are available; final continuous and peak limits are confirmed on the technical data sheet |
| Electrical Properties | Grade-dependent; request the appropriate dielectric data where insulation performance is required |
Values above describe common product configurations and are not a universal specification. Final thickness, adhesion, temperature rating, electrical properties, and tolerances are confirmed by grade on the quotation and technical data sheet.
For heat-sealing bars, first confirm the operating temperature, dwell time, contact pressure, bar width, and the material being sealed. A thicker tape normally provides more mechanical durability and cushioning, while a thinner grade transfers heat more quickly and follows small surfaces more easily. For rotating rollers or repeated sliding contact, wear resistance and edge lifting should be evaluated through a production trial.
If the tape will be used for electrical insulation, anti-static handling, or direct food-contact equipment, state that requirement in the inquiry. These applications may require a specific grade, documentation, adhesive system, or validation method. Suitability should be confirmed before volume production rather than assumed from the PTFE surface alone.
Mavis can supply master rolls, slit rolls, die-cut pieces, and custom widths for equipment maintenance or OEM production. Send the required width, length, thickness, quantity, operating temperature, contact surface, and application description. For replacement of an existing tape, a photo, sample, or current technical data sheet helps us match construction and performance more accurately.
PTFE fiberglass tape has a woven reinforcement, making it better suited to repeated wear, sealing bars, and machine surfaces. Skived PTFE film adhesive tape is smoother and more conformable, making it useful where surface finish, chemical resistance, or low profile is the priority.
Yes, when the selected construction is rated for the actual process. Continuous temperature, peak exposure, load, and dwell time all affect service life, so the final limit must be checked against the selected grade.
Removal performance depends on temperature, exposure time, surface condition, and adhesive grade. Sample testing is recommended for critical equipment or long dwell periods.
