No Residue Green Tape is a silicone adhesive PET polyester masking tape engineered around a single critical performance requirement: zero adhesive residue on every surface, every removal, every time. Where standard green PET tape may leave light adhesive ghosting on certain substrates after high-temperature processing, the adhesive formulation in this tape is specifically optimized for clean release — making it the correct specification for powder coating, precision electronics masking, and any process where adhesive contamination of the protected surface would cause a quality failure downstream.
In most masking tape applications, “no residue” is a convenience feature. In certain processes, it is a functional requirement. Adhesive residue left on a PCB surface after solder masking can interfere with conformal coating adhesion — causing delamination in the field. Residue on a powder-coated mating surface prevents proper assembly torque and sealing. Residue on a plated contact pad increases contact resistance and causes intermittent failures.
Standard silicone adhesive tapes perform well at rated temperatures, but the adhesive can undergo partial crosslinking at elevated temperatures, leaving a thin transfer film on certain substrates — particularly bare copper, ENIG finish, and anodized aluminum. The adhesive in No Residue Green Tape is formulated with a higher-purity silicone system and tighter crosslink density that prevents this transfer, delivering a genuinely clean surface after every removal regardless of thermal cycling history.
Clean release confirmed on FR4 PCB, bare copper, ENIG, HASL, OSP surface finishes, anodized aluminum, stainless steel, powder-coated steel, and most engineering plastics. No adhesive film, no ghost marks, no ionic contamination requiring post-process cleaning.
Clean release does not mean weak adhesion during the process. The tape bonds firmly to all listed substrates on application and maintains that bond throughout thermal processing — no lifting at tape edges, no solder or coating bleed-under, no tape migration during conveyor handling.
Green PET film base maintains dimensional stability at temperatures up to 180°C continuous, with short-term peak resistance to 200°C — covering the full powder coating cure cycle and standard wave soldering profiles. The tape does not shrink, wrinkle, or lose edge definition under sustained heat.
Equally specified for powder coating masking on industrial metal components and for electronics assembly masking on PCBs and precision electronic parts. The same zero-residue requirement appears in both industries — and the same adhesive system delivers it in both environments.

Masking of threaded holes, bearing seats, electrical contact points, and precision mating surfaces during powder coating cure at 160–200°C. On these surfaces, any adhesive residue remaining after tape removal will interfere with assembly fit, sealing torque, or electrical contact — making zero-residue performance a functional requirement, not a preference. No cleaning step required after tape removal.
PCB areas where conformal coating, adhesive bonding, or wire bonding will follow the masking step. Silicone contamination from standard tape adhesive at these locations can prevent proper adhesion of the subsequent material. No Residue Green Tape eliminates this risk — the surface is chemically clean after removal and requires no solvent wipe-down before the next process step.
Masking of precision-located features on aluminum components during anodizing, chromate conversion coating, and similar wet chemical surface treatments. On anodized aluminum surfaces, adhesive residue from standard tapes is particularly difficult to remove without damaging the anodized layer — zero-residue tape eliminates post-treatment cleaning risk entirely.
Masking of optical surfaces, sensor windows, precision-ground contact faces, and other surfaces that are visually or dimensionally inspected after processing. Any adhesive residue on these surfaces causes inspection failures and rework. Zero-residue removal guarantees the surface condition after tape removal matches the surface condition before masking.

This tape is rated to peak 200°C (short-term), which covers standard wave soldering and powder coating profiles but does not meet lead-free reflow peak temperature requirements (250–260°C). For lead-free SMT reflow applications, specify our Green PET Tape High Temp Grade instead.
No Residue Green Tape eliminates adhesive residue transfer, which addresses one form of surface contamination before conformal coating. However, if your process requires a tape with an anti-silicone adhesive formulation — specifically to prevent silicone migration that would interfere with conformal coating or adhesive bonding — specify our Green Heat Resistant Tape, which uses an anti-silicone adhesive system designed for this requirement.
